My first English blog——Connections between us

Today is the first day of the May Day holiday, I did not plan to travel but sleep as much as I can, cook some Oriental food for myself that has been on my mind for a long time, and then read some books that have nothing to do with my research and choose a film that I like to watch in the evening.

But you know, the wonderful point of life is that it often goes against the original plan.

While I was still enjoying a nice dream, even though it was almost 11:00, my phone rang and it was my mom on a video call. She had gone to my grandparents', and we saw each other on the video and talked about the food we recently ate. In fact, since I grew up after 15 and left home, similar calls have been frequent and most of them were about food and stuff like that. Yes, food, is the connection between me and my family.

At noon, a senior brother Z sent me a WeChat message, he is my senior during my master's degree, and we haven't contacted each other for some time. As far as I remember, the last time we sent a message was because of a Go game. This time he sent a picture of an exhibition of Chinese calligraphy, which turned out to be from a trip he took to Changsha, where the calligraphy was taken from the Yuelu Academy. Then he asked me for my address in Italy and said he would send me a postcard. I was so happy for this postcard that I am about to receive it from China! These are the connections between us, but also between me and my other friends.

In the evening, I intended to surf the Internet, and the moment I turned on my laptop, I saw the Windows interface was a bit strange because I hadn't used the Win system for a long time. I saw the 10 words written on the bottom of my laptop screen, and they were "Don't follow blindly, don't panic, and don't forget the original aspiration" <Chinese:不盲从 不慌张 不忘初心>. At that time, I just started my master's life and joined the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Lab, and I was a freshman standing at the door of scientific research. There were multiple research areas to choose from. At the beginning, I was often confused, and I told myself to find my own direction. The sticker next to the motto was given to me by the clerk when I went to McDonald's with Brother Z. Later, I glued it here after I returned to the lab. Today when I open my laptop, they remind me of myself and the quite normal scenarios I experienced back then. This is the connection with myself.

The beautiful part about life is that certain moments seem unsurprising when it happens, but after a long time, these moments become the connection between us, such as my mother showing the bun she just cooked, my sister showing the roast duck she is eating, and, the first postcard we received from our motherland, a note we wrote to ourselves many years ago...... These connections make up the story we live in the human world.
